Pesah Schedule 2021 – לוח זמנים פסח תשפ"א

Thursday - March 25 – 12 Nissan

  • Clean the house

  • Including kitchen appliances, carpets. garage, attic, cars etc.

  • Sell your Hametz – Options:

    1. See Rabbi Sasson on Sundays: March 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, 18, 21 after Shaharit (9am).

    2. Call the Rabbi to schedule time 248-372-1939

    3. Email Rabbi Sasson the signed form (click here to see form) email: rabbisasson@gmail.com

    4. Call the office 248-681-3665 and speak to Rabbi Sasson BEFORE March 22, 2021.

  • Perform “Bedikat Hametz”–searching for Hametz, AFTER DARK 8:21 pm. 

  • Say “Kol Hamira”:

  • In Aramaic:

כָּל חֲמִירָא וַחֲמִיעָא דְאִיכָּא בִּרְשׁוּתִי, דְלָא חֲמִתֵּיהּ (או: דְּלָא חַזִיתֵיה) וּדְלָא בִיעַרְתֵּיהּ, לִבְטִיל וְלֶהֱוֵי [הֶפְקֵר] כְּעַפְרָא דְאַרְעָא"

In Hebrew:

כָּל חָמֵץ וּשְׂאוֹר שֶׁיֶּשְׁנוֹ בִּרְשׁוּתִי, שֶׁלֹּא רְאִיתִיו וְשֶׁלֹּא בִּעַרְתִּיו, יִבָּטֵל וְיִהְיֶה הֶפְקֵר כַּעֲפַר הָאָרֶץ.

  • In English:

  • “All leaven and anything leavened that is in my possession, which I have neither seen nor removed, and about which I am unaware, shall be considered nullified and ownerless as the dust of the earth.”

 

Friday – March 26 – 13 Nissan

  1. Since EREV Pesah is on Shabbat:

  1. There is NO “Fast of the Firstborn”. 

  2. We are allowed to eat Hametz all day until tomorrow, Shabbat at:  11:32 am

  • Burning the Hametz – until:  12:36 pm

  • 7:35 pm REGULAR Candle lighting (Don’t forget to put TWO 24 hour candles. Light now the 1st one)

  • 6:35 pm EARLY candle lighting (Plag)  6:35 pm (Early)

  • 7:00 pm Minha (Early)

 

Should we eat bread? Can we eat Matzah instead?

  • Should you choose to eat bread, make it on a plastic tablecloth so that it will not create crumbs. Better to take pita bread or tortilla as they don’t make crumbs while the challa does. Eat 2 oz bread, clean the area, wash hands and mouth and eat regular Pesah food on Pesah dishes. Say Birkat Hamazon.

 

  • (Although we are not allowed to eat Matzah on Erev Pesah, However, we can eat Matzah Ashira (that was emersed in soup OR was baked with fruit juice), Should you choose to eat Matzah Ashira, eat at least 2 square matzahs. Eat regular Pesah food on Pesah dishes. Say Birkat Hamazon.

 

Saturday – March 27 – 14 Nissan

Erev Pesah

Since EREV Pesah is on Shabbat

  1. There is NO “Fast of the Firstborn”.

  2. We are allowed to eat Hametz until 11:32 am

There are two options: 

  1. Having morning services early in order to give enough time to do kiddush and eat bread BEFORE 11:32am, which is the latest time that allowed to eat bread.

  2. Have morning service at a regular time and perform the Shabbat Seudah on Matzah Ashira 

  • Say “Kol Hamira” on or BEFORE 11:32 Am:

  • In Aramaic:

כָּל חֲמִירָא וַחֲמִיעָא דְאִיכָּא בִּרְשׁוּתִי, דְּחַזִיתֵיה וּדְלָא חַזִיתֵיה דְּבִיעַרְתֵּיהּ וּדְלָא בִיעַרְתֵּיהּ , לִבְטִיל וְלֶהֱוֵי [הֶפְקֵר] כְּעַפְרָא דְאַרְעָא".

  • In Hebrew:

 כָּל חָמֵץ וּשְׂאוֹר שֶׁיֶּשְׁנוֹ בִּרְשׁוּתִי, שֶׁרְאִיתִיו וְשֶׁלֹּא רְאִיתִיו, שֶׁבִּעַרְתִּיו וְשֶׁלֹּא בִּעַרְתִּיו, יִבָּטֵל וְיִהְיֶה הֶפְקֵר כַּעֲפַר הָאָרֶץ.

  • In English:

“All leaven and anything leavened that is in my possession, which I have neither seen nor removed nor burned, and about which I am unaware, shall be considered nullified and ownerless as the dust of the earth.”

  • It is customary to say this Yehi Ratzon:

יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְפָנֶיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ כְּשֵׁם שֶׁאֲנִי מְבַעֵר חָמֵץ מִבֵּיתִי וּמֵרְשׁוּתִי כַּךְ ה' אֱלֹהַי וֵאלֹהַי אֲבוֹתַי תְּבַעֵר אֶת כָּל הַחִיצוֹנִים וְאֶת רוּחַ הַטּוּמְאָה תְּבַעֵר מִן הָאָרֶץ וְאֶת יִצְרֵנוּ הָרָע תְּבַעֲרֵהוּ מֵאִתָּנוּ וְתִתֶּן לָנוּ לֵב בָּשָׂר וְכָל הַסִטְרָא אַחֲרָא וְכָל הָרִשְׁעָה כְּעָשָׁן תִּכְלֶה וְתַעֲבִיר מֶמְשֶׁלֶת זָדוֹן מִן הָאָרֶץ וְכָל הַמְעִיקִים לַשְׁכִינָה תְּבַעֲרֵם בְּרוּחַ בָּעֵר וּבְרוּחַ מִשְׁפָּט כְּשֵׁם שֶׁבִּעַרְתָּ אֶת מִצְרַיִם וְאֶת אֱלֹהֵיהֶם בַּיָמִים הַהֵם וּבִזְמַן הַזֶּה אָמֵן: וִיהִי נֹעַם אֲדֹנָי אֱלֹהֵינוּ עָלֵינוּ. וּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֵינוּ כּוֹנְנָה עָלֵינוּ. וּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֵינוּ כּוֹנְנֵהוּ:

  • Say the “Yehi Ratzon”:

“May it be your will, Lord, our G-d and G-d of our fathers, that just as I remove the hametz from my house and from my possession, so shall you remove all the extraneous forces.Remove the spirit of impurity from the earth, remove our evil inclination from us, and grant us a heart of flesh to serve You in truth.Make all the sitra achara, all the kelipot, and all wickedness be consumed in smoke, and remove the dominion of evil from the earth. Remove with a spirit of destruction and a spirit of judgment all that distress the Shechina, just as You destroyed Egypt and its idols in those days, at this time. Amen, Selah.” 

  • 7:30 pm Minha Arvit & Hallel  (Recite full Hallel with Beracha)

  • 8:36 pm Candle lighting, NOT BEFORE:     8:36 pm 

  • Must use an existing flame. Light now the 2nd 24 hour candle.

  • “Havdallah” is part of the Kiddush, therefore Kiddush CAN NOT start before 8:36 pm

  • Performing the First Seder Night

  • 1:39 am The latest for eating Afikoman: Eat Afikoman BEFORE Midnight

 

Sunday – March 28 – 15 Nissan

First day of Pesach

  • 9:00 am Shahrit, Full-Hallel, Torah Reading and Musaf – Recite of the 

“Tikun Hatal” Say “Morid Hatal” in Musaf

Seudat Hag – Eat a Festive Meal (No Kiddush at Keter Torah)

  • 7:30 pm Minha Arvit & Hallel

  • 8:38 pm Say: “Sefirat Haomer” – First day of the Omer. 

  • 8:38 pm Candle lighting AFTER   (must use an existing flame)

  • 8:40 pm Performing the Second Seder Night. Kiddush AFTER 8:40 pm.

  • 1:33 am The latest for eating Afikoman: BEFORE 1:33 am

 

Monday - March 29 – 16 Nissan

Second day of Pesach

  • 9:00 am Shahrit, Full-Hallel, Torah Reading and Musaf

  • Seudat Hag – Eat a Festive Meal (No kiddush at Keter Torah)

  • 7:30 pm Minha

  • 8:25 pm Arvit Say: “Sefirat Haomer” – Second day of the Omer.

  • 8:39 pm Hag - Holiday Ends

  • Havdallah (Wine ONLY. No spices, No candle)

 

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

March 30, 31, April 1 – 17, 18, 19 Nissan

Hol Hamoed Pesach

  • 7:00 am – Shaharit, Shahrit, 1/2-Hallel, Torah Reading and Musaf

  • No Tefillin- Only Tallit

Friday - April 2 – 20 Nissan 

Hol Hamoed Pesach AND

Erev Shevii Shel Pesach

  • 7:00 am – Shaharit, 1/2-Hallel, Torah Reading and Musaf 

  • No Tefillin- Only Tallit

  • Candle lighting: 6:41 pm (Early-Plag)   (Regular time: 7:43 pm)

  • Don’t forget to put TWO 24 hour candles. Light now the 1st one

  • Put Yahrteit Candle for YIZKOR for Saturday night

  • Minha  7:00 pm (Early)   (Nightfall: 8:44 pm for “Omer”)

 

Saturday - April 3 – 21 Nissan

Shevii Shel Pesach – 7th day of Pesach

  • 9:00 am Shahrit, 1/2-Hallel , Torah Reading and Musaf

  • Seudat Hag – Eat a Festive Meal

  • 7:30 pm Minha & Arvit

  • 8:36 pm Candle lighting NOT BEFORE 8:36 pm 

Must use an existing flame. Light now the second 24 hour candle. AND light the Candle for YIZKOR.

 

Sunday - April 4 – 22 Nissan

Shemini shel Pesach – 8th day of Pesach

  • 9:00 am Shahrit, 1/2-Hallel , Torah Reading 

  • 10:30 am Yizkor and Musaf

  • 7:30 pm Minha

  • 8:46 pm Arvit  / Holiday Ends

  • The Hametz is yours again AFTER 9:46pm

  • Havdallah (no spices, no candle)

 

Monday - April 5 – 23 Nissan

Isru Hag

  • 7:00 am Shahrit Put Tefillin AND Tallit regularly

  • Do not say Tahanun the entire month of Nissan (Resume Tahanun on Wednesday, April 14, 2021)
