Thursday - March 29 – 13 Nissan

  • Clean the house

  • (including kitchen appliances, carpets etc.), garage, attic, cars etc.

  • Sell your Hametz - Options

  • a). See Rabbi Sasson on Sunday March 4 / 11 / 18, 2018 after Shaharit (9am).

  • b). Call the Rabbi to schedule time 248-372-1939

  • c). Email Rabbi Sasson the signed form (click here to see form) email: rabbisasson@gmail.com

  • d) Call the office 248-681-3665 and speak to Rabbi Sasson BEFORE March 20, 2018.

  • Perform “Bedikat Hametz”–searching for Hametz, AFTER DARK 8:35 pm. Say “Kol Hamira”:

  • In Aramaic:

  • כָּל חֲמִירָא וַחֲמִיעָא דְאִיכָּא בִּרְשׁוּתִי, דְלָא חֲמִתֵּיהּ (או: דְּלָא חַזִיתֵיה) וּדְלָא בִיעַרְתֵּיהּ, לִבְטִיל וְלֶהֱוֵי [הֶפְקֵר] כְּעַפְרָא דְאַרְעָא"

  • In Hebrew:

  •  כל חמץ ושאור שישנו ברשותי, שלא ראיתיו ושלא ביערתיו, ייבטל ויהיה הפקר כעפר הארץ.

  • In English:

  • “All leaven and anything leavened that is in my possession, which I have neither seen nor removed, and about which I am unaware, shall be considered nullified and ownerless as the dust of the earth.”

 

Friday - March 30 – 14 Nissan - Erev Pesach

  • Fast of the Firstborn.

Starts 5:49 am Ends 8:26 pm unless broken for a festive meal celebration.

  • Allowed to eat Hametz until:  11:30 am

  • Burning the Hametz – (Better to do it in the morning)        until:          12:32 pm

  • After the burning of the Hametz:

  • Say “Kol Hamira”:

  • In Aramaic:

  • כָּל חֲמִירָא וַחֲמִיעָא דְאִיכָּא בִּרְשׁוּתִי, דְּחַזִיתֵיה וּדְלָא חַזִיתֵיה דְּבִיעַרְתֵּיהּ וּדְלָא בִיעַרְתֵּיהּ , לִבְטִיל וְלֶהֱוֵי [הֶפְקֵר] כְּעַפְרָא דְאַרְעָא".

  • In Hebrew:

  •  כל חמץ ושאור שישנו ברשותי, שראיתיו ושלא ראיתיו, שביערתיו ושלא ביערתיו, ייבטל ויהיה הפקר כעפר הארץ.

  • In English:

  • “All leaven and anything leavened that is in my possession, which I have neither seen nor removed nor burned, and about which I am unaware, shall be considered nullified and ownerless as the dust of the earth.”

  • It is customary to say this Yehi Ratzon:

  • יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְפָנֶיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ כְּשֵׁם שֶׁאֲנִי מְבַעֵר חָמֵץ מִבֵּיתִי וּמֵרְשׁוּתִי כַּךְ ה' אֱלֹהַי וֵאלֹהַי אֲבוֹתַי תְּבַעֵר אֶת כָּל הַחִיצוֹנִים וְאֶת רוּחַ הַטּוּמְאָה תְּבַעֵר מִן הָאָרֶץ וְאֶת יִצְרֵנוּ הָרָע תְּבַעֲרֵהוּ מֵאִתָּנוּ וְתִתֶּן לָנוּ לֵב בָּשָׂר וְכָל הַסִטְרָא אַחֲרָא וְכָל הָרִשְׁעָה כְּעָשָׁן תִּכְלֶה וְתַעֲבִיר מֶמְשֶׁלֶת זָדוֹן מִן הָאָרֶץ וְכָל הַמְעִיקִים לַשְׁכִינָה תְּבַעֲרֵם בְּרוּחַ בָּעֵר וּבְרוּחַ מִשְׁפָּט כְּשֵׁם שֶׁבִּעַרְתָּ אֶת מִצְרַיִם וְאֶת אֱלֹהֵיהֶם בַּיָמִים הַהֵם וּבִזְמַן הַזֶּה אָמֵן: וִיהִי נֹעַם אֲדֹנָי אֱלֹהֵינוּ עָלֵינוּ. וּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֵינוּ כּוֹנְנָה עָלֵינוּ. וּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֵינוּ כּוֹנְנֵהוּ:

  • Say the “Yehi Ratzon”:

  • “May it be your will, Lord, our G-d and G-d of our fathers, that just as I remove the hametz from my house and from my possession, so shall you remove all the extraneous forces.Remove the spirit of impurity from the earth, remove our evil inclination from us, and grant us a heart of flesh to serve You in truth.Make all the sitra achara, all the kelipot, and all wickedness be consumed in smoke, and remove the dominion of evil from the earth. Remove with a spirit of destruction and a spirit of judgment all that distress the Shechina, just as You destroyed Egypt and its idols in those days, at this time. Amen, Selah.”

 

  • Candle lighting:    7:39 pm

  • Minha and Arvit   7:45 pm

  • (Recite full Hallel with Beracha) 

  • Recite Korban Pesach: It is customary to recite “The Order of the Passover Offering” after the afternoon Minha prayers

 

  • Performing the First Seder Night

  • Please do not start Kiddush before 8:41 pm

  • Afikoman: BEFORE Midnight:         1:37 am

 

Saturday - March 31 – 15 Nissan

First day of Pesach

  • Shahrit, Torah Reading and Musaf – Recite of the : “Tikun Hatal” Say “Morid Hatal” in Musaf                     9:00 am

  • Seudat Hag – Eat a Festive Meal

  • Minha                                     7:45 pm

  • Arvit                                        8:25 pm (Recite full Hallel with Beracha)

  • Say: “Sefirat Haomer” – First day of the Omer.

  • Performing the Second Seder NightCandle lighting AFTER: 8:41 pm (must use an existing flame)

  • Please do not start Kiddush before 8:41pm

  • Afikoman: BEFORE 1:37 am

 

Sunday - April 1 – 16 Nissan

Second day of Pesach

  • Shahrit, Torah Reading and Musaf –                                                9:00 am

  • Seudat Hag – Eat a Festive Meal

  • Minha                                     7:50 pm

  • Arvit                                        8:30 pm

  • Say: “Sefirat Haomer” – Second day of the Omer.

  • Hag - Holiday Ends:              8:42 pm

  • Havdallah (no spices, no candle)

 

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

April 2, 3, 4 – 17, 18, 19 Nissan

Hol Hamoed Pesach

  • No Tefillin- Only Tallit

Thursday - April 5 – 20 Nissan 

Hol Hamoed Pesach AND

Erev Shevii Shel Pesach

  • No Tefillin- Only Tallit

  • Make 'Eruv Tavshilin' (click here for explanation)

  • Candle lighting:                 7:45 pm

  • Minha                                 7:50 pm

 

Friday - April 6 – 21 Nissan

Shevii Shel Pesach – 7th day of Pesach

  • Shahrit, Torah Reading and Musaf                                                                    9:00 am

  • Seudat Hag – Eat a Festive Meal

  • Minha & Arvit                        7:00 pm

  • Candle lighting                      7:00 pm                  (must use an existing flame)

 

Saturday - April 7 – 22 Nissan

Shemini shel Pesach – 8th day of Pesach

  • Shahrit,

       Torah Reading and Musaf –     9:00 am

  • Yizkor and Musaf                      10:30 am

  • Minha                                         7:30 pm

  • Seudah Shelishit – in the Synagogue

  • Arvit                                            8:35 pm

  • Shabbat/Holiday Ends:             8:50 pm

  • The Hametz is not yours again before 10:00pm

  • Havdallah (no spices, no candle)

 

Sunday - April 8 – 23 Nissan

Isru Hag

  • Shahrit                                         9:00 am

  • Put Tefillin AND Tallit regularly

  • Do not say Tahanun the entire month of Nissan
